Evaluation: Question 1
Here i have compared stills from our final product and the opening scene of Arlington Road.

As you can see, we both used black fonts onto a pale background. Arlington Road’s title is simple and bold whereas we opted for a more unique type font to coincide with the atmosphere of our tile sequence.

Here the stills in Arlington Road are inverted but we have a clear still image but have changed the color to red. Our still here seems more calm as it is a close up of leaves swaying where as Arlington road's clip is fast cutting to make it more scary.

In these stills, The Grove has a pink background which is also but Arlington road has a dark background. The Grove’s title is much more bigger than Arlington Roads. Also in this still, the size of the surname is bigger than the forename.
Here we have visual similarities, as we got inspiration of the panning of gates in Arlington Road. Arlington road has a shadow of the gates whereas ours is red. Arlington road looks more sinister it has a blood red type colour.

Another visual similarity is the still of the road names. We both have effects on the stills. In The Grove, we added noise which makes it more pixilated

Here we both added stills of a dog. We were unable to have it as close up as the still in Arlington Road but managed to film one.

Both of our stills are on a black background as it is the title of the film. The grove is centred in the middle to make it clear.

SoundTrack Pro
Soundtrack pro helped us with giving the sinister atmosphere of our opening scene which is what we wanted. We were able to produce diegetic sound; such as the footsteps when nigel was walking, breathing when Nahuel was in the bag and the walkie talkie sound during the clip of the CCTV camera. We were also able to create the right music played throught the tile sequence succesfully as there was a wide range of music. We wanted to keep it simple yet give the distorted feel across to the audience.

Evaluation: Question 2
Since our title sequence The Grove was based on Arlington Road. There was no dialogue between the characters used in the scene. But there is a mysterious connection between the two.

This character represents a resident living in the area we filmed. As you can see, he is smartly
dressed which reflects on the area he lives in, which is a suburban u
pper class area.

This character is the link between the above character. He is in a plastic bag which makes
audience curious to weather it's Nigel who's taken him out in the bag.

Evaluation: Question 3&4
If we were to relase our thriller film, i think the companies that will help in producing would be working title. Its not one of the big 6, but will be able to help us produce our film. As we are a low budget film, we would be realeasing it in independant cinemas such as:
The Screen On The Green:
Ritzy cinema:
This cinema has been opened for 100 years. It is a very well-known cinema situated in Brixton, South london. Aswell as showing independant films, it also has music venues. By showing our film here, it will show the quality of the film because it is a well-known cinema and also bring in wide audience.

Billboards:

Magazines:
We would be advertising it in magazines that are for a wide audience but a magainzine that
men mainly read. By doing this we can get in audience we know who would enjoy this.
The Screen On The Green:

This cinema is situation in inslington green that shows independant and foreign films of good quality as most cinemas tend to just show blockbuster films. It has a good reputation for showing good films. We we be able to asure good reviews as the audiences will be people who are into good films and doesn't ignore independant films like ours.

Feedback: Rough cut
The rough cut is fairly good, set aside that it isn't muted and we wont be having them sounds in. It needs to be much longer and some of clips dont have no effects or change to them which seems boring unlike the title sequence of arlington road. Also, it doesn't really look like a title sequence since no titles are on it or sound. However we like it so far and, we just neeed to add more effect and more clips. Overall we were pleased with our rough cut, It showed real pontential and progress. The teachers were impressed with our variations of strong bold shots, from the panning of the houses to personal close ups of the captured victim. The different effects makes the sequence edgy and unpredictible. Alot of work still needed to be done including muting the sound, adding music and adding the titles. Also more clips needed to be added.
Skills Audit: Creation of soundtrack
When making the sound, i wanted didn't want to go over the top with adding too much sound. I wanted to be creepy, yet keep it simple. It starts of with a wind type of sound to create a sense of mystery, then i added more sounds through the title sequence. When we finished withe draft of the soundtrack, we posted the video of the title sequence onto Soundtrack Pro to see if it worked with the title sequence. We added other sound effect such as footsteps of Nigel walking and breathing when the clip Of Nahuel is in the black bag. Nigel also enabled to add a distorted sound in the blips of flashes aswell as adding a sound that coincides with the last title of the title sequence which looks and sound succesful. We also added a walkie talkie police sound in the CCTV clip to make it seem more realistic. I really like the soundtrack for our title sequence because it sound proffesional yet fits into the title sequence of a disturbed atmosphere.
Skills Audit: Filming
We took a number of photographs whilst filming for the title sequence.

We used alot of panning to make it clear of the loaction that the title sequence is set it. Asuburban area. Most of our filming was on Danson Road, but we did go into a park aswell to film a closeup of bushes swaying by the wind- that is seen in our title sequence a number of times and a boat. We used the precautions of using a camcorder saftly and were able to film easily.

Pitch for our title sequence
This is the last slide in our pitch which for some reason, would not load with the rest of the pitch.
Location Shots
We need to film in a suburban area as our title sequence is inspired from title sequence Arlington Road. So we decided to film in Nigel's area but a road in particular, Danson Road. Danson Road is in Bexleyheath, Kent so we would have to plan where to meet in order to travel to the designated area.

This is one of the houses that we are planning to use in our title sequence. This house fits the idea we want of a nice residential area.

This gate looked similar to the gate in the title sequence Arlington Road. We came up with an idea of panning it and giving it the same style they did the title sequence.

This is a park we had an idea of filming in. There is a lake in the park as well where we can film.

This would be a suitable place to film as we were looking for an area to look like a middle-upper class area that seems to be 'perfect'
Planning of preliminary match cut exercise
We also did another filming exercise practice with match cuts before doing it in our title sequence. This was to practise match cuts when two people exchange dialogue so that we can make it look as professional as we can. We did the match cut on Final Cut Pro.To do this, we filmed it from my view and from Nahuel's view We had to film lots of times to get different angles and shots. We were successful with the match cut exercise.
Intro to Cameras & Health and Saftey Tutorial

Cameras
Each media class had a tutorial on the precautions on using cameras and how to use them. We learnt how to record, film and focus in on the subject as well as using it properly and handling it with care.
We used a JVC camcorder and were given two memory cards to put in for our memory. We learnt how to switch from one memory card to the other. For health and safety, we used rechargeable batteries instead of electric sockets. This prevented tripping over as well as enabling us to film where ever we had chosen to.
We were also taught how to extend the tripod depending on the height we wanted to film at as well as making sure that it is locked so that the camcorder so that the camera wont fall off and be steady when filming. When we filmed, we should carry the tripod whilst the camcorder is still on there, we should take it off first in case the tripod was to fall, the camcorder will fall with it.
When practicing with it, we were able to use to successfully whilst taking all the precautions needed.

Skills audit:Livetype and Sound
In one of our tutorials we learnt how to use livetype and sound so that we will be able to add titles, aswell as sound when making our title sequence .

Livetype
Livetype is a programme used to add titles aswell as the effects of the title that fits in with the genre of the title sequence.
When you open livetype, there should be a white blank square on the left and side. This is where you would preview your text.

To insert a title there are two options, you can right it in the grey square that is next to the white square on the right, or is you are considering writing alot of text you can write it in the other grey square that is underneath it.

When writing your text and are not happy with he text or effect of it, there are tabs right on the left hand side that have different sort of effects the first tab; livefonts is if you want your texts to be very animated. The are also categories within each tab for more different types of effects. The next tab; fonts, is just for the actual style of the font not the effects. The next two tabs; textures and objects are for adding a background to the texts. The last tab; effects is self explanatory. It just gives you a wider variety of effects without changing the actual font of it unlike the first tab. When you have chosen and effect or style there are two buttons at the bottom of it that says apply.

Click apply so that the effect will be added to that title. If you want to preview the title, there is a time line at the bottom. Press the space bar to preview the titles. If you wanted to add your titles on the actual clip, input and output your your clip on final cut pro, go to file>export>for livetype and save as a new clip. When you have done that go back to the live type programme and go to file>place background movie and open up your file.

Soundtrack Pro
Soundtrack pro is a programme for adding sound effects, instrumentals and making your own music. When you have opened up soundtrack, the left hand side is for adding a video so that you an preview it with the sound and make sure that they coincide with each other.
In the middle is where you would be adding the sound at the time and length you want, like final cut pro, there is a cutting tool to cut the piece of sound.
To get our desired sound or sound effect, you will see on the bottom right hand corner, there are three effects; Browser, search and favourites. People mostly used search but if you have found a sound from another programme you can open it up through browser. The search tab has different categories to help you find the sound your are looking for.
